Labour of Love

This beautiful wedding at Malaparte on the Labour Day long weekend in 2019 was one for the books. Angelina and Vincent are true couple goals. Always laughing, always supportive, down to earth, and gorgeous. Their wedding emulated all of this. With family split between Saskatoon and Toronto, it was important to them to have a very Torontonian wedding to give their out of town guests and experience they wouldn’t forget. The Malaparte rooftop is so perfect, as it looks over Restaurant Row in downtown Toronto, with a clear view of the CN tower, and the bright city lights shining throughout the night. The incomparable Corina V. Photography team was on site to capture everyone moment- scroll down to see more!

The goal for these two was to have a fun, easy breezy wedding where they could spend quality time with their guests. They kept the decor classy and city chic with all white florals and gold accents to compliment the bright dining room at Malaparte. Flowers from Cool, Green, and Shady, table settings from Chairman Mills, and outdoor furniture from Detailz created a timeless and elegant look throughout the outdoor and indoor space.

The morning started off perfectly, as the ladies got ready at the Park Hyatt Hotel, right next to the wedding venue. Their suite was full of music, flowers, and laughter as everyone got ready. Angelina’s mom and dad were also there to see Angelina get into her wedding dress for the first time. It was such a beautiful moment, and everyone radiated love and happiness.

Angelina and Vincent exchanged gifts before the ceremony. This is one of my most favourite moments in a wedding. They had both written heartfelt notes to each other that they weren’t allowed to read until right before they walked down the aisle. I think it’s such a special thing that creates this beautiful bond and energy walking into the ceremony, having the words from your favourite person fresh in your mind.

The ceremony took place at Vincent’s family church in Scarborough, with spacious tall ceilings and beautiful stained glass, this Catholic ceremony was full of love and tradition.

The Malaparte rooftop includes with a lovely tent, so guests can enjoy the views rain or shine. We turned our big space into two separate areas; the welcome area, with lovely seating, the welcome table, and the bar, and on the other side, the lounge and dance floor area. Using a sofa table flush against the couch created a visual barrier between the two space and maximized the function of the room.

Indoors, the stunning dining room was sparkling with small metallic accents and glimmering candle light. The room itself has shining blue tile pillars, and a Hollywood starlet wall wth gold and silver frames. We decided to lean into the existing feel of the space instead of trying to cover it up or bring in a new theme. These two were so gorgeous, they basically looked like classic starlets anyways.

The table settings were accented with lovely gold rimmed chargers, printed black and white menus, and pretty greenery to add a bit of life. The centrepieces were simple and elegant, with floating candles of different heights and lovely garlands wrapped around the candle stands. We went a little more glamorous for the head table with a gold linen and beaded charger plates.

Another wonderful part about Malaparte is how phenomenal the food is. Provided by O&B Catering, guests were treated to an amazing dinner, including fresh halibut and summer peas, whipped ricotta and melon carpaccio, and a stunning dessert.

After dinner, we took full advantage of the rooftop access and brought guests outside to enjoy Angelina & Vincent’s first dance as a married couple. The sparklers and the glow of the city lights made the perfect backdrop.

The guests danced the night away under the tent, with a traditional Romanian father-daughter dance, a fabulous ice cream cart, and lots of hugs and laughter. The party lasted all the way until 2am and I’m sure we all would have stayed till the sun come up if we could have.
